Over a Million Tails – Four-Pawed Friends Heading Home. How to Become a Partner in Animal Rescue with Save Pets of Ukraine

On March 14th, the Save Pets Of Ukraine initiative presented the charitable book 'Saving Four-Pawed (and People) in Ukraine'.

The book aims to draw maximum attention to the problem of the increasing number of stray animals during the war.

All funds raised from the book sale will be directed to help shelters for dogs and cats.

The initiative Save Pets Of Ukraine was founded in 2022 by Kormotech - a Ukrainian manufacturer of pet food. In a short time, it gained global scale, uniting private donors, businesses, and non-profit organizations. More than 262,000 animals have been rescued, but the need for help remains critical. According to research conducted by SPOU in collaboration with Socioinform, the number of animals in shelters and under the care of zoo volunteers has increased by 60% and in frontline areas by 100%.

Save Pets of Ukraine needs support from partners and concerned individuals to meet pets' basic needs in shelters. The team launched the “Patronage” program, through which animals receive comprehensive care and are prepared for adoption into families. The cost includes two months of food, veterinary services, carriers, leashes, and other necessities.

According to Save Pets of Ukraine's estimates, about 3,500 UAH is needed to prepare one dog for adoption and over a million hryvnias for 300 animals. The organization is seeking partners to join this noble cause. After all, adopting stray animals into families is the best and most humane way to reduce the number of tails in shelters and on the streets.

The “Patronage” program is currently piloted in 4 shelters in Ukraine, with plans to scale up in April. The goal is to cover 50 shelters and, as a result, find homes for at least 2000 dogs and cats.

Everyone can join the initiative and help save four-legged friends!
