Reconstruction of the Building on Konovaltsia Street Continues: What Has Been Achieved Since the Beginning of the Year

Lviv IT Cluster and partner companies Kormotech and Enzym Group continue reconstructing a residential building at 46 Konovaltsia Street in Lviv. The building sustained significant damage from a missile strike on September 4, 2024. The restoration is being carried out in several phases following an approved plan.

Emergency stabilization work was completed in January: windows were replaced, the roof structure was reinforced, and a video surveillance system was installed. At the same time, specialists finalized the project documentation, which successfully passed expert review, and conducted tenders to select the general contractor and technical supervision provider.

“This project exemplifies how business, the community, and the city can unite for a common purpose. The reconstruction of the building on Konovaltsia is not just about physically restoring walls but about bringing back a sense of safety to those affected by the war. We believe such initiatives should become the norm in Ukraine’s post-war recovery,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

In February, preparatory activities were carried out: the construction site was arranged, designated storage areas for building materials were established, and a backup power source was installed. In parallel, the team began the main structural reinforcement work — walls and window openings are being strengthened with metal elements and belts.

In March, construction work on-site remained in full swing. The ceiling slab was insulated, and wooden flooring was installed in the attic. This allowed the team to proceed with assembling a new wooden roof frame and preparing for roof replacement. In parallel, the reinforcement of the walls continued—a critical stage in restoring the building’s structural stability.

“We are physically rebuilding the house to bring people back home, and we’re providing detailed updates to the city community on every stage of the work, progress, and plans to maintain public trust. As an effective and responsible business, we are committed to fulfilling our obligations at the highest level and giving residents the confidence that their building will have a long and reliable life,” says Maria Stefanyshyn, Chief Administrative Officer at Kormotech.

The project has now entered the active reconstruction phase. Installing metal structures that will restore the building’s integrity is nearing completion. Repairs and replacement of the wooden roof components have begun, after which a new standing seam metal roof will be installed. Work has also started on replacing the drainage system, preparing the facade for insulation, and finishing it.

“Working on this reconstruction project is our responsibility to the people and the city. It’s crucial to reinforce the building to ensure its safety, and we are doing all the necessary work to make that happen. In moments like these, each of us becomes part of something bigger, and the Enzym team is ready to do whatever it takes to help people get through these difficult times,” says Andriy Tsehelyk, CEO of Enzym Group.

The project is being implemented as part of the Lviv City Council’s “Adopt a House” initiative. The charitable foundation of the Lviv IT Cluster and member companies of the IT association provided funding: Intellias, Avenga, Sombra, Linkup Studio, Forbytes, Impressit, Relevant Software, PLVision, Embrox, CharStudio, Jappware, Deviark, Scimus, and Simulmedia. Kormotech and Enzym Group also provided significant support. Altogether, 9.5 million UAH has been raised to reconstruct the building.
