Vovk Family Shares Its Story at the 35th Family Business Network Global Summit in Germany
Rostyslav and Olena Vovk shared their family business story at the 35th Family Business Network (FBN) Global Summit, held in Cologne, Germany, on October 14–17, 2026. Rostyslav and Olena became the first Ukrainian family business to present its experience at this international event. Held under the theme "Transforming Legacy, Shaping Tomorrow: Ownership in Motion," the Summit brought together more than 600 family business members from over 40 countries.
During a moderated conversation led by Vladislav Burda, Ukrainian entrepreneur and President of FBN Ukraine, Olena and Rostyslav discussed their family's journey, leadership transitions between generations and how they have transformed their businesses in times of uncertainty.
Olena Vovk spoke about taking responsibility for the family business following her father's sudden passing, becoming CEO of Enzym and leading its transformation. She also shared the decision to transfer executive leadership to a professional CEO while remaining actively involved as an owner.
Rostyslav Vovk shared his journey from joining the family business as the next generation to becoming CEO of Kormotech and leading its international growth. He also spoke about preparing the company for its next leadership transition, with the ambition of finding his successor by 2029.
The discussion also explored how the family responded to russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Rather than putting development on hold, they continued investing, diversifying their businesses and expanding internationally, including in Lithuania.
The family also strengthened its governance structure by establishing an international Supervisory Board and a Family Council. These bodies help clarify responsibilities between family members, owners and professional management while preparing the third generation to become responsible future owners. For the Vovk family, responsible ownership also means supporting Ukraine and contributing to its future.
Their story demonstrated how strong family values, professional management and long-term thinking can help businesses evolve, remain resilient and create opportunities for future generations, even in the most challenging circumstances.
