"Our goal is to raise our children as responsible owners," — Rostyslav Vovk at the SUP Family Picnic Lviv
On June 20, the SUP Family Picnic Lviv took place just outside the city. Organized by the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (SUP), this inaugural local event brought together business leaders, their families, partners, and friends in a welcoming atmosphere to connect, relax, and discuss shared values.
As part of the event, Rostyslav Vovk, CEO and co-owner of Kormotech, joined the panel discussion titled "What We Will Pass On to Future Generations." Alongside other participants, he discussed corporate social responsibility, the role of entrepreneurs in shaping Ukraine's future, and the foundational values companies are establishing today to guide the generations of tomorrow.
"First and foremost, we must pass down family values and principles to our children—that is the foundation. Only then, at the next stage, can we talk about business," emphasized Rostyslav Vovk.
This topic resonates deeply with Kormotech, which is evolving as a global family business with Ukrainian roots. Since its founding in 2003, Kormotech has gone beyond producing high-quality food for cats and dogs; the company consistently cultivates a culture of responsible pet ownership, supports animal welfare initiatives, and expands Ukrainian manufacturing on the global stage.
Currently, Rostyslav is actively involving his children in the family business. However, his ultimate goal is not to force them into daily operations, but rather to raise them as responsible owners. To achieve this, Kormotech is building a transparent corporate governance structure, which includes the establishment of a Family Council and a Board of Directors.
"We are moving away from the idea that our children must inevitably work in operational management. Our goal is for them to be responsible owners. We are designing our entire corporate structure so that professional management teams run the business, while the children know how to govern them effectively," Rostyslav Vovk explained.
It is precisely at this intersection of strong family values and modern corporate governance that Kormotech is building a business capable of thriving and growing for generations to come.
