Kormotech wins at the “Business That Changes Ukraine” competition with an animal rescue case
Kormotech has received top recognition at the finals of the 14th National CSR Case Competition “Business That Changes Ukraine.” Our company was awarded a special distinction – “Best Case Chosen by Artificial Intelligence.”
The winning initiative, “Saving Animals’ Lives in Ukraine,” stood out as a powerful example of humanity, responsibility, and effective collaboration between business and civil society during a crisis.
Each year, the national CSR Ukraine competition recognizes the strongest corporate social responsibility initiatives. This year, 47 companies took part – and for the first time, one of the nominations was determined by AI.
What is our “Saving Animals’ Lives in Ukraine” case about?
When the full-scale invasion began, we set up a 40-person crisis response hub. Working 24/7, the team handled over 20,000 requests each month from shelters, animal-welfare volunteers, and pet parents in high-risk areas.
Our support goes far beyond nutrition. We also help with evacuation, logistics, veterinary medicines, and medical care – and we continue to do so today.
The initiative is implemented in partnership with the U-Hearts Foundation. Together, we deliver aid to even the most remote regions of Ukraine, support animal-welfare activists, provide veterinary assistance, and collaborate closely with international donors.
The roots of this project go back to 2014, when we launched the initiative “Don’t Leave Us in the ATO.” It later became the foundation of the Save Pets of Ukraine platform (today – U-Hearts).
To date, the platform has:
- Saved over 300,000 animals
- delivered 1.9 million kg of nutrition
- attracted €7.5 million in international aid.
Other Kormotech cases submitted to the competition
- “Spivprostir” – a journalism competition that encourages high-quality content about social initiatives, responsible business, support for the army, and a humane attitude toward animals. The project strengthens socially meaningful journalism and builds a new community of authors.
- “Care as the Foundation of Community Resilience” – an initiative that shows how business can support local communities. We provide ongoing assistance to the Voices of Children Foundation, the LKP “Lev” Municipal Shelter, and the Home for Rescued Animals, supporting the evacuation of both domestic and wild animals from combat zones.
“For our company, social projects are a natural extension of our care philosophy. We believe business should not only create high-quality products, but also address real societal challenges — support communities, protect those who have no voice, and invest in a resilient future.”
Says Iryna Lozova, Head of Kormotech’s CSR initiatives.
