Kormotech supported the Veterans Run by Unbroken Foundation during the Vilnius Half Marathon

Kormotech joined the Vilnius Half Marathon to support the symbolic Veterans Run organized by the Unbroken Foundation and raise awareness about people and animals affected by war.

The initiative brought together Ukrainian veterans, charity fundraising, and the screening of the documentary anthology Animals in War, highlighting the importance of care, resilience, and support even in the most difficult circumstances.

As part of the event, five Ukrainian veterans recovering from severe injuries and amputations participated in a symbolic 200-meter Veterans Run dedicated to supporting the “Unbroken Kids” rehabilitation program for children affected by war. Veterans from Ukraine also completed the 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km distances of the marathon.

“Participating in the Vilnius Half Marathon has special meaning for us. It is a sincere sign of gratitude from Ukrainians to Lithuania and its people for their continued support since the beginning of the full-scale war,” said Andrii Bereziuk, Head of Kormotech UAB. “As a company with teams and production facilities in both Ukraine and Lithuania, we feel a strong connection with the local community. Supporting the veterans’ initiative reminded us that even small acts of help can make a huge difference in people’s lives.”

During the event, visitors could support the “Unbroken Kids” initiative by purchasing branded merchandise and souvenirs. Guests attending the marathon with their pets could also donate to the cause and receive special treats for their four-legged companions at the pet bistro organized by Kormotech.

The event also featured the presentation of Animals in War — a seven-part anthology of short films based on true stories about people, pets, farm animals, and wildlife living through the realities of war. The documentary draws attention to the devastating impact war has not only on people, but also on animals, ecosystems, and biodiversity.

According to estimates shared during the presentation, more than 6 million pets and 3.5 million birds have been affected by the war in Ukraine. Over 80 animal species are at risk of extinction, while shelter destruction and mass evacuations continue to deepen the animal welfare crisis.

“This film reveals a side of war that often remains unseen — its impact on animals, nature, and the entire ecosystem,” Bereziuk added. “For us, Animals in War is more than a film project. It is an opportunity to encourage people not to stay indifferent and to draw attention to the animal welfare crisis caused by war.”

In 2022, Kormotech established the non-profit organization U-Hearts and the humanitarian initiative Save Pets of Ukraine, which became a key partner in the film project.
