Announcing the Winners of the 'Spivprostir' Contest
Kormotech, the animal welfare social initiative Save Pets of Ukraine, and the media organization Internews Ukraine have held the second edition of their journalism contest focused on responsible animal treatment. This annual media event aims to draw societal attention to crucial issues such as the humane treatment of animals, ecology, animal protection, and social responsibility.
This year's journalism contest, under the slogan "A Pet-Friendly Country," received 161 entries from journalists across almost all regions of Ukraine. The contest entries highlighted stories of animal rescue and adoption, examples of equitable coexistence between humans and animals, business initiatives in animal protection, and the impact of war on animals and the environment.
"The contest became a real platform for uniting caring individuals from all corners of Ukraine, aiming to make the country more animal-friendly. This is more than a competition among journalists—it's a powerful tool for shaping public opinion and spreading the culture of humane treatment. Each story in this contest is a step towards creating a society where respect for animals is part of our general values," said Iryna Lozova, Kormotech's Social Project Coordinator, co-organizer, and jury member.
The 2024 'Spivprostir' contest winners are: Grand Prize: Danylo Bumatsenko, UAnimals Media.
First Place: Iryna Tanasiichuk, Vikna-news (vikna.tv).
Valeriya Sheblykina, URSA MEDIA, and Nataliya Pendyur, UAnimals Media, shared Second Place.
Darya Lobanok, Gvara Media, Kateryna Hlavatskykh, Sil Media, and Inha Pavlii, the Eastern Variant, shared
Third Place.
Special awards for the original format of the presentation were given to Oleksandra Shylova from PP "TRK "PiTVi" and Ruslana Storozhuk from media "My Kyiv," by the event's thematic partner, the super-premium brand for cat and dog food, Optimeal from Kormotech. Accordingly, the winners' materials in this category will be published on the brand's official blog.
Remember, Kormotech has been dedicated to the life and well-being of cats and dogs for over 20 years, implementing various social initiatives. During this time, dozens of significant projects have been realized, including the 'Take Your Dog to Work' initiative, Optimeal Expert veterinary school, a free veterinary hotline, an online platform Optimeal Expert 9100, and the Look 4 Paws adoption platform, as well as the global social initiative Save Pets of Ukraine, which assists Ukrainian animals affected by the war. The journalistic materials contest 'Spivprostir' emphasized developing media content that fosters social change. The organizers express their sincere gratitude to all participants and partners and announce the continuation of the contest in 2025.
