Kormotech Expands Solar Power Generation at Its Production Site in Prylbichi

The company is strengthening the energy independence of its production step by step: from launching a rooftop solar power plant in 2024 to building a ground-mounted station, which is set to come online this May.

Kormotech, one of Ukraine’s largest manufacturers of food for cats and dogs, continues to develop its own solar power generation at its production site in the Lviv region. The company is steadily investing in energy independence and increasing the share of electricity from renewable sources by combining its own solutions with partner financing models.

Since 2024, Kormotech has been implementing a phased strategy to develop solar power generation. The first step was the launch of its own rooftop solar power plant. The next steps included its modernization and the construction of a ground-mounted station. The company plans to put the new station into operation in early May this year.

Kormotech is currently completing the construction of the ground-mounted solar power plant. Once it is launched, the total solar generation capacity at the Prylbichi production site will reach 808 kW. The ground-mounted solar power plant has a capacity of 366 kW and is being built by an external investor, Ecotech Invest.

On July 2, 2024, the company commissioned a 383-kW rooftop solar power plant. During sunny months, it can generate up to 60,000 kWh of electricity per month. On June 6, 2025, the station was upgraded, increasing its capacity to 442 kW. This allowed the company to increase its output of green electricity.

At the same time, Kormotech’s energy team sought an external investor to finance the ground-mounted solar power plant. Since May last year, the company’s specialists have reviewed proposals from five companies. Following negotiations, Kormotech signed an agreement with Ecotech Invest. Under this model, the investor fully finances the construction of the station, while the company purchases the electricity it generates at a pre-agreed tariff.

The project is the result of almost a year of joint work by Kormotech’s energy team, legal department, and accounting team. As of April 8, 2026, the Prylbichi production site had already consumed 570,760 kWh of renewable electricity generated by the company’s own facilities.

Once the ground-mounted solar power plant is operational, the total solar generation capacity at the Prylbichi production site will reach 808 kW. On sunny summer days, during midday, the power plants can cover up to 50% of the plant’s instantaneous electricity consumption.

On a monthly basis, the company’s own green electricity will account for around 13% of total consumption. On an annual basis, it will account for around 8%.

“Developing our own renewable generation is part of Kormotech’s consistent strategy to reduce dependence on market electricity prices and lower the environmental footprint of our production. The experience of leading European manufacturers confirms that in-house solar generation at industrial facilities is becoming an industry standard. Kormotech is moving purposefully in this direction. Our strategic goal by 2028 is to cover at least 15% of electricity consumption through our own generation,” explained Chief Energy Engineer Yurii Komprychevskyi.
