Business and media: a space for win-win collaboration
On February 26, Alina Smyshliak, Director of Reputation Management and CSR at Kormotech, joined the “Business & Media” discussion.
The event took place in Kyiv and was organized by DII-Ukraine, Donbas Media, and Novyny Donbasu.
“Today’s communications landscape has changed, and traditional models of interaction between business and the media are evolving. At the same time, the media remain critically important for business, just as business is important for the media. That’s why we need to rethink the rules of cooperation and invest in creative, unconventional ways of working together. When we see each other as equal partners and respect one another’s standards and values, we create room for strong, high-quality partnerships.”
Today’s Ukrainian audiences increasingly choose native formats over advertising—they want real stories and context. Businesses feel this demand and aim for a deeper presence through meaning, reputation, and engagement in issues that truly matter to society.
Media outlets are now becoming creative hubs, production teams, and event platforms around which communities form. This opens up space for formats that create value for audiences, media, and business alike—provided the interaction is built on a win-win principle.
“The media shouldn’t be afraid to write about Ukrainian business. Entrepreneurship is an inseparable part of our landscape, and healthy protectionism and support for the ‘Made in Ukraine’ brand are the right strategy during wartime and recovery. Business, in turn, should support the conversation about entrepreneurial culture, break down stereotypes, and help bring forward honest, motivating success stories,” says Alina Smyshliak.
